DESTINY INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE fully recognises its responsibilities for child protection and safeguarding the welfare of children in its care. Teachers and other school staff are well positioned to observe the outward signs of abuse, changes in behaviour or failure to develop of children because of their day to day contact with individual children during the school terms. “The welfare of the child is paramount.”
Three main elements to our child protection policy:
Prevention by creating a safe and supportive school atmosphere and pastoral oversight given to pupils/students in accordance with the School’s mission and values and the Christian commitment we embrace.
Protection by following agreed on procedures, ensuring staff are trained and granted necessary support to respond appropriately and sensitively to child protection concerns.
Support for pupils who may have been abused or at risk of any significant harm.

Destiny International College places high importance on the health and safety of its staff and students. Not only is this important for the general well-being of each individual child, but we also believe that children who are healthy and happy are likely to derive maximum benefit from the academic and pastoral programmes offered by the school.
At DIC Healing Bay, we have an adept understanding of our unique role in safeguarding the health of all members of our school community. Our dedicated team of qualified medical doctors and nurses is committed to maintaining and improving the health of students and school personnel via prompt health services and health education.
We liaise with reputable consultants, hospitals, laboratories and secondary/tertiary referral centres to provide rounded medical care for both staff and students.
As part of our pastoral care, each student is assigned to mentors who are trained to interact with the students on a closer level to help them strike a balance is the everyday aspect of their lives which include:

Spiritual i.e. discipleship.
The DIC student mentorship programme is aimed at raising our students to becoming world-class leaders and spiritual giants.
Each mentor is expected to play a role of a counsellor, a disciple, a friend, a pacer, an instructor and a disciplinarian that ensures an all-round development of each student assigned to him/her.
Mentors pray with their mentees and help them to grow in the knowledge and application of the doctrines and principles of the Bible.
Mentors also help students to discover and develop and channel the gifts, talents and graces in them by helping to fan into flame their strengths and to deal with personal weaknesses in them.
Students have diverse needs which could be emotional, psychological, physical and even academic. Sometimes, students are faced with the choice of subjects suitable for careers based on individual traits and abilities.
Destiny International College has a Guidance Counselling unit which is saddled with the responsibility of guiding students in the selection of subjects for the various examinations which ultimately leads to their future career.
We believe in talking with students in order to elicit from them hidden burdens, fears aspiration with a view to helping them accordingly. This is done by our experienced counsellors.
At DIC, we do welcome parents’ involvement in career discussions at any time during their children’s stay.
